Quality Catholic Education
Risen Christ Catholic School K-8 was founded in 1993 as a cooperative effort of five parishes (Church of the Holy Name, Holy Rosary, the Church of the Incarnation, Saint Albert the Great, and the Church of Saint Stephen) to provide access to quality Catholic education to all interested families in south Minneapolis.
Our faith formation program reflects, supports and promotes Catholic teachings, values and traditions. Our curriculum is based on the Religion Standards for Catholic Education in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. The social justice teachings of the Church beautifully articulate our core values:
- Life and the dignity of the human person
- Call to life in family and community
- Rights and responsibilities of the human person
- Dignity of work and rights of workers
- Option for the poor and vulnerable
- Communal solidarity
- Care for God’s creation
Among the Catholic traditions we embrace are:
- Study of the saints
- Formal and informal prayer experiences
- Liturgical seasons and holy days.
All children K-8 are welcome at Risen Christ School and students from other faith traditions help us build ecumenical understanding and mutual respect. All students participate in daily prayer and Catholic religion classes. Catholic students receive preparation for the sacraments (Reconciliation, Eucharist, Confirmation) through their parishes.
