Student Support

To support learning at Risen Christ Catholic School, we have developed a comprehensive student support system to ensure that each and every student receives the support, services and resources s/he needs to be academically successful and healthy.

City Connects

A partnership among archdiocesan schools, Boston College and community agencies, City Connects offers a hub of support to our students and families that includes information on before and after-school programs, academic support and tutoring, enrichment programs, counseling, healthcare and other social services. A full time licensed social worker serves as Risen Christ’s City Connects Coordinator throughout each school year

School Counselors

A licensed school counselor is available on site at Risen Christ to address any student and parent concerns that might arise.

Tutoring

Title I

The Title I program provides supplementary, remedial support in math and reading. Students in grades K-8 with the greatest educational needs are considered for service first, and services are provided during the school day.

Title III

The Title III program provides supplementary help for students coming from a home where a language other than English is also spoken. Students in grades K-8 with the greatest language needs are considered for direct service first. In addition, resources including, but not limited to: language dictionaries, computers, books on tape, picture cards and leveled materials may be used by designated Title III students to supplement their learning. Services are provided during the school day. Parents/guardians whose children receive Title I and Title III services will be invited to attend an informational meeting to learn more about the programs and how it can promote their child’s success.

One-on-One Learning

If students are struggling academically, based on teacher recommendation, each student will be matched with a volunteer tutor to provide support in each subject at no extra cost to the student or family.

Special Education

The Minneapolis Public School System addresses the special education needs of our students. The elementary or middle school director is the contact person for all special education concerns.
