Risen Christ School offers grades kindergarten through 8th grade. Our kindergarten program is an all-day program. Please note that there is currently no preschool at Risen Christ.
Tuition at Risen Christ is based on a sliding scale. The cost per student for the 2024-2025 school year ranges from $580 to $4,375. We offer discounts for families with multiple children attending and there is no charge for a fourth or more children from a family. You can choose from several payment plans, spreading the cost over three, five, or ten payments. We aim to work with you on the financials, so your child can attend Risen Christ.
Yes, students are required to wear a school uniform. Our uniform guide provides detailed information on the expected uniform for different grade levels. Separate uniform garments can often be purchased at most department stores or online.
Busing is provided by the Minneapolis Public Schools within the specific boundary lines they establish. There is no additional cost for busing. Please contact the school office to determine if you are within the busing boundaries.
Yes, we currently offer on-site before-school enrichment programming by partnering with the Bilingual Learning Center starting at 8:15 am each school day. We do not currently provide after-school care outside of middle school enrichment programs.
Yes, Risen Christ School offers free breakfast and lunch daily for all students.
In addition to the core academic classes, Risen Christ offers music, physical education, computer, and religion classes for all students. Grades 6-8 are organized as a middle school to help students prepare for the transition to high school.
Yes, we do have an athletic program at Risen Christ. Currently, we offer soccer, track and field and volleyball. Middle schoolers are also able to join the Urban Debate League and debate in English or Spanish.
As a Catholic school, spirituality is integral to the school day at Risen Christ. Students attend Mass weekly on Thursdays, and there are numerous other opportunities for prayer and spiritual growth throughout the school year.

Our location is an accessible and practical choice for families located in South Minneapolis. Many students walk to school, while others arrive by car or use school transportation, allowing families to choose what works best for their daily routine.

Faith formation lies at the heart of the educational experience at Risen Christ Catholic School. Rooted in the teachings of the Catholic Church, Risen Christ is committed to nurturing the spiritual development of our students by providing opportunities for students to deepen their relationship with God, understand Catholic teachings and traditions, and live our their faith in their daily lives.
Students participate in regular religious education classes that focus on liturgy, the sacraments, Catholic saints, and prayer. Through participation in daily prayer, opportunities for reconciliation and the celebration of weekly Mass on Thursdays, students strengthen their understanding of the Eucharist and develop a sense of belonging to the larger faith community. (Sacramental preparation is received by students at their individual parishes.)

We enjoy celebrating the Catholic traditions from a variety of countries that represent the heritage of our students. Some festivities include Las Posadas (honoring the journey of Mary and Joseph), the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe (paying tribute to the patroness of the Americas), and Dia de los Muertos (where students come together to honor and remember their deceased loved ones on All Saints Day and All Souls Day).

Since 1993, Risen Christ has served as the first step of a student’s educational journey, laying a strong foundation for both academic and personal success. Our Mission Impact Study celebrates the remarkable achievements of our graduates and the enduring impact of their Risen Christ education.
The study found that 100% of sampled Risen Christ alumni graduated from high school and 81% enrolled in college—both rates higher than those of comparable Hispanic, Free/Reduced Lunch, and English Language Learner (ELL) students across Minnesota and Minneapolis Public Schools. These outcomes highlight the strong academic foundation students receive at Risen Christ.
If students are struggling academically, based on teacher recommendation, each student will be matched with a volunteer tutor to provide support in each subject at no extra cost to the student or family.
The Title III program at Risen Christ provides supplementary help for students coming from a home where a language other than English is also spoken. Students in grades K-8 with the greatest language needs are considered for direct service first. In addition, resources including, but not limited to: language dictionaries, computers, books on tape, picture cards and leveled materials may be used by designated Title III students to supplement their learning. Services are provided during the school day.
Parents/guardians whose children receive Title I and Title III services will be invited to attend an informational meeting to learn more about the program adn how it can promote their child’s success.

Yes, Risen Christ is possible for your child! Financial accessibility is a core part of our mission at Risen Christ. We will never turn a family away due to financial circumstances. In fact, 97% of current Risen Christ students receive some form of tuition assistance. We will partner with you to make enrollment possible for your child!
Yes, all families at Risen Christ are eligible for a need-based scholarship. At Risen Christ, all families can apply for financial scholarships by completing the TADS application, which provides the information needed to determine your family’s tuition tier. Tuition for the 2026-27 school year ranges from $625 to $4,950, and is set using a sliding scale, meaning it is adjusted to a fair amount based on your family’s financial situation. If your financial situation improves, your tuition will increase or “slide up,” allowing us to continue our mission for financially accessible Catholic education for all in our community.
Additional tuition discounts are offered for families with multiple children attending, and there is NO charge for a fourth child from the same family.
The first step is to schedule a tour! Currently, applications are only available on paper and must be returned to the front office at your earliest convenience. Step two is to submit your New Family Registration Form and enrollment documents. If needed, you’ll also complete your TADS Financial Aid Application. Step three requires a $100/family deposit to secure your child’s spot and is applied to your first 2026-2027 tuition payment. Step four is to read and sign the tuition agreement form. Create a Blackbaud account, and add autopay if possible.
Parents/guardians of kindergarten students must provide a copy of the child’s preschool screening report, updated immunization records, and a copy of his/her birth certificate. Skills assessments may be administered to a new kindergarten student if he/she enters after the preschool screening program has been completed. Students transferring to Risen Christ are asked to complete an enrollment form and may be given a number of different assessments. The informaiton provided through these materials assists the school in making appropriate instructional placement decisions.
Families looking to enroll in kindergarten should do so if the child is 5 years of age by September 1st of 2026 (if entering for the 2026-27 school year). Our enrollment period is open on a rolling basis! To ease the transition for new students and to ensure that teachers and staff are prepared to welcome them, transfer students will begin attending at the start of each quarter.

Risen Christ Catholic School approaches discipline through a faith-based framework rooted in Catholic values. Students are expected to demonstrate respect for others, act with integrity, and honor the property of peers, staff, and the school community. Families are seen as partners and are expected to support the school in reinforcing these expectations.
The school maintains clear standards for behavior, and inappropriate conduct is not tolerated. Expectations apply not only during the school day, but also at school-sponsored events (on or off campus) and when using school resources. The school may also address behavior that occurs outside of school if it negatively impacts the school environment.
Disciplinary decisions are made at the school’s discretion, with the goal of maintaining a safe and respectful community. Consequences may include loss of privileges, suspension, disciplinary probation, or dismissal, depending on the severity of the behavior.
At Risen Christ, we recognize parents as the primary educators of their children and understand our partnership with them as a sacred trust. We support this by providing monthly family education workshops where a Community Partner shares resources with parents. These resources include themes that support learning and academic habits at home. Childcare and free dinner are provided!

Risen Christ Catholic School was formed in 1993 as the consolidation of five urban parish schools: Holy Name, Holy Rosary, Incarnation, St. Albert the Great and St. Stephen’s, to preserve and strengthen Catholic education for new generations of children in the heart of South Minneapolis, Minnesota.
