Our Middle School English Debate Team continues to make us proud! At their third tournament of the year, hosted by the Minnesota Urban Debate League, our students once again brought home medals.
With seven teams competing, many students earned both individual speaker awards and team victories. As Program Director Jake Swede put it, “Risen Christ absolutely crushed in the Rookie division!” This tournament focused on the topic of funding the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA), with students engaging thoughtfully on both perspectives. Debate challenges our students to think critically, speak confidently, and work collaboratively, so that as adults, they will be able to advocate for themselves and their communities. We are incredibly proud of how they represented Risen Christ with preparation and determination.

El equipo de debate urbano sigue cosechando éxitos
¡Nuestro equipo de debate de inglés de la escuela secundaria sigue haciéndonos sentir orgullosos! En su tercer torneo del año, organizado por la Liga de Debate Urbano de Minnesota, nuestros estudiantes volvieron a traer medallas a casa.
Con siete equipos compitiendo, muchos estudiantes obtuvieron tanto premios individuales como victorias por equipos. Tal y como señaló el director del programa, Jake Swede: «¡Risen Christ arrasó por completo en la categoría de principiantes!». Este torneo se centró en el tema de la legislación sobre la Ley de Educación para Personas con Discapacidad (IDEA), y los estudiantes participaron reflexionando sobre ambas perspectivas. El debate desafía a nuestros alumnos a pensar de forma crítica, a expresarse con confianza y a trabajar en equipo, para que, cuando sean adultos, sean capaces de defender sus propios intereses y los de sus comunidades. Estamos increíblemente orgullosos de cómo han representado a Risen Christ con preparación y determinación.
